Over $1m find in van

A MAN has been charged after detectives allegedly seized over $1 million cash during a vehicle stop in Sefton last Thursday.

About 12.15pm, officers from South West Regional Enforcement Squad conducted a vehicle stop of a white van near the intersection of Carlingford and Mima Streets, Sefton, where they spoke with the driver, a 36-year-old man, and following inquiries, searched the vehicle.
Police allege they found a bag containing $100 notes in the middle console, before they opened a hidden compartment in the rear of the van, where three more bags of cash were located.
In total, they seized $1,150,460 in cash and a mobile phone, which will be subject to further forensic examination.
The man was charged with deal with the proceeds of crime.

Disqualified, sped and crashed
A DISQUALIFIED driver has been charged after an alleged pursuit and crash in Greenacre last Thursday night.
Bankstown Highway Patrol were patrolling Greenacre at 9.55pm, when they saw an SUV do a U-turn at traffic lights at the intersection of Juno Parade and Roberts Road.
The driver was directed to stop on nearby Karuah Street, however he allegedly ignored the direction and a pursuit began.
The SUV was followed into Maiden Street where the vehicle hit a concrete dividing island, and then struck a parked car on Acacia Avenue.
The driver ran from the scene and was pursued on foot before being arrested in Maiden Street.
Checks revealed his driver’s licence was suspended until 2023.
A 41-year-old Greenacre man was charged with Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, Drive recklessly/furiously and speed dangerous to the public, Exceed speed limit by more than 45km/h, Drive while disqualified, Negligent driving, Resist police, Fail to exchange details following a collision, Not stop at traffic lights, Not keep left, and Make U-turn at intersection with traffic lights
He has also been also charged with a conviction warrant for Possess prohibited drug, Drive while disqualified, and Deal with proceeds of crime.
