Outstanding youth effort rewarded

A GROUP of “awesome kids” (pictured) who have not only achieved great success for academic excellence but are also showing their talents when it comes to the arts and sport, were recognised last month at the Children and Youth Awards.

Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said the awards provided an opportunity for people to celebrate the accomplishments of children and young people who were making an outstanding contribution to their local communities.
“Through the awards, we shine a bright spotlight on the incredible potential and achievements of our young community members, inspiring us all with their dedication to community growth and positive change,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“I am sure we will be hearing more of their successes in the future.”
The winners were: Years 3-6, Community Involvement – ​Jamilah Elhindi, Georgia Dockrill and Zakrya Swade; Inspiration – ​Indy Hagget, Marcus Moussa, Archie Kapnopoulos, Umayr Hossain, Omar Sharadgah and Audrey Webb; ​Leadership – Noor Habib and Peter Evangelidis; Years 7-12, Academic achievement – Jade Huang; Community involvement – Wendy Zheng; Creative and performing arts – Sasha Najem; Inspiration – Yunes Swade; Leadership – Casey Macreadie; and Sporting – Jessica Robertson.
