Zonta Sydney West, a member club of Zonta International, recognises exceptional young women and men who are recommended by their schools for helping to combat gender-based violence in the community.
Young men receive their awards on International Women’s Day in March each year.
Zaynab said: “My actions towards being a safe, respectful learner as well as being on task, helping my peers and teachers has probably earned me this special award. I wasn’t expecting it, but still I’m very proud to receive it.”
Charlotte said: “I put my best efforts in all areas of school life. I encourage other students to take on endeavours like the Duke of Edinburgh Award and competitive sports.”
Zonta Sydney West president Diana Humphries said: “We thank local clubs and small business for their sponsorship making these awards possible and welcome new members to join in supporting women’s refuges, women leaving the justice system, making and providing breast care cushions to five local hospitals and assembling birthing kits for undeveloped communities as well as supporting local initiatives to empower women.”
