Open Mic night chance to celebrate local talent

SHE’S only just taken part in her first Open Mic night last month but Alexis Panaretos can’t wait for the next one.

With singing, piano solos and monologues stealing the show, she said it was a wonderful showcase of local talent and incredible fun with a huge range of performers – young and old.
“It was hosted by Bankstown Theatre Company and I only joined them last year to perform in their ‘Pirates of Penzance’ but thought I would go along to the Open Mic night and meet some more aspiring performers from the local area,” Alexis said.
“I wasn’t disappointed; everyone was so friendly and there was so much talent on display.
“I’d normally sing a song from a musical like in an audition but thought I would do something different so I chose to sing an acoustic version of ‘Bring Me to Life’ by Evanescence; I was happy with how it went and the audience seemed to like it, everyone was really encouraging of everyone.
“It was the perfect practice night full of many positives and I’m really looking forward to the next one.”
