When ‘Fred’ migrated from Lebanon to Australia during the war, he never thought that one day he could be at risk of losing his family because of the one thing that gave them their freedom – it’s full of unexpected surprises.
Comedian Rob Shehadie vows his latest production takes audiences on an emotional rollercoaster but will leave them filled with pride about their Lebanese heritage.
“It is a stage play with about 70 per cent comedy but a storyline about the diaspora that touches on war-torn Lebanon,” he says.
“You will feel proud, you will laugh and you might even cry!”
Created by Shehadie, along with Anthony Salame and Tahir Bilgic, it features the three of them as well as actors from previous productions and special guest George Tilley.
Even though there is some Arabic (90 per cent in English) throughout the show, everyone is invited and welcome; all different nationalities have enjoyed this production which has debuted in Adelaide and at the Enmore Theatre.
Catch ‘Once Upon a Time in Lebanon’ from August 24-26 from 8pm, with tickets starting at $59.
