On song for diversity

PART of Open Inner West Festival, the Solidarity Choir workshop will teach songs that promote respect for diversity, language and culture as well as peace. Come and sing songs in English and other community languages before performing the songs at popup performances on the streets of Newtown. It’s on this Saturday, June 15, 1-6pm, at Newtown Neighbourhood Centre. Details: solidaritychoir@gmail.com.

Polish open day event

‘POLISH Cultural Open Day – Honouring Nina’ is on offer at the Polish Club, Ashfield, this Sunday, June 16, 12-5pm. The fun Polish cultural day for young and old, will feature face painting, Polish folkloric dancing by ‘Syrenka’, music, a youth art competition, craft displays, delicious Polish food and a photographic exhibition and formal presentations honouring the life of a great Polish Australian multicultural activist Nina Skoroszewska OAM.

Tips to reduce plastic

Why reduce plastic? That will be the topic under discussion at St Peters Library, Sydenham on Monday, June 17, 10.30am-12.30p, for Mandarin speakers and on Tuesday, June 18, for Portuguese speakers. Get help identifying your everyday plastic consumption at home, particularly single use plastic when shopping, and learn simple moves that can help reduce plastic waste in the environment.
