Club director Ross Bernais said players from previous sporting backgrounds, find it easy to make the switch to rugby and are enjoying lots of success and fun.
“Rugby is a sport for all shapes and sizes,” he said.
“It offers great camaraderies and it’s now truly on the world stage being at the Olympics.”
First played in Sydney in 1863, Australia is one of only three countries to have won the Rugby Union World Cup more than once and are reigning Olympic champions in Women’s Sevens.
Located at Lugarno, Oatley draws players from the Georges River and lower Bankstown areas but is relatively unknown despite having been around for over 60 years.
With something for everyone, the club offers Mini rugby for girls and boys up to u/7s, juniors from u/8s to u/18s, Girls Rugby Sevens and Seniors (Subbies) plus even Golden Oldies.
With the Australian mens and womens teams going for Gold at the Olympics in Tokyo, what better time to get involved in playing the game?
This season they will have a team in every age group so to find out more or register, call Ross on 0408 625 633 or email info@oatleyrugby.com.
