Olympic men triumphant as women achieve tough draw

SYDNEY Olympic men’s and women’s sides have enjoyed mixed results in their respective competitions.

In the NPL Men’s NSW competition, Sydney Olympic secured an important three points with a 3-1 victory over Sydney FC at the Illinden Sports Centre on Friday.
It was the Sky Blues who opened the scoring thanks to a tap home from Tiago Quintal, which was equalised in the second half by a stunning freekick from Teng Kuol.
George Timotheou then put Olympic ahead from a set piece, before Roy O’Donovan confirmed the victory.
In the NPL Women’s NSW competition, Sydney Olympic and Gladesville Ravens played out a hard fought, 1-1 draw at Peter Moore Field as both teams shared the points.
The visitors took the lead following a foul that saw Claudia Cholakian fall to the ground following a push before experienced campaigner Lexi Moreno stepped in and made it 1-0 in the 17th minute.
Gladesville took the lead into the break and thought they had done enough to secure the points until Olympic star striker Demi Koulizakis scored from afar to gift the Blues a point.
