Offer sweet, message of thanks to any essential worker who walks by

AN idea from a Bankstown Public School teacher to ‘thank a postman’ has blossomed into a treat box full of chocolate and candy for any essential workers that happen to pass by a Reynolds Avenue, Bankstown, unit block.

Raheela Ramzan and daughter Manha, 5, have been busy decorating an old jewellery box with stickers and candles, filling the drawers with sweets and including messages of thanks for doctors, nurses, delivery drivers, police and of course, postmen, who have all been working hard to ensure life continues as smooth as possible.
“I’ve been telling Manha that we need to be thankful for everyone who is working for us during this tough time,” Raheela said.
“My daughter is very creative and located all the recycled materials to decorate the box and the messages of thanks; she is determined to let all passersby know how much we appreciate their efforts.”
Originally from Pakistan and also mum to Marha, 2, and Mahdiya, seven months, Raheela is encouraging others to create their own kindness project.
“If it makes just one person smile who is walking by when they see our thanks and eat a sweet, then we will be happy and you never know, it might change their day,” she said.
