Going up against 25 other contestants, she is a part-time volunteer legal aid officer, giving disadvantaged residents free access to law services, and also volunteers at the Story Factory, a not-for-profit creating writing centre.
As if that doesn’t keep the 23-year-old busy enough, she is in the throes of organising fundraisers for her pageant charity, ToyBox Australia, which supports sick and disadvantaged children.
“I am proud of the work I do in the legal field but I am most passionate about the creative arts,”’ she said.
“I believe creative education should be taught to young people, particularly disadvantaged students, whose voices are not being heard due to external influences.
“I would use my platform as Miss Universe Australia to encourage disadvantaged and minority groups to find their own authentic voices through safe and creative spaces.”
With a goal of raising $5,000 by the pageant final on September 1, Vitoria is hosting sausage sizzles and is collecting donations for a mega raffle.
“I am taking part in the pageant because fundraising for ToyBox is such a wonderful cause and in this pageant, I won’t just be judged on my looks but rather on my intellect and inner beauty,” Vitoria said.
