Nominate community hero for win

IF you know someone who has “made a real difference in the community”, now’s your chance to show your gratitude and say “thanks” by nominating them for an Australia Day award.

Categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Community Organisation of the Year, Women in Community and Jack Mundey Environment and Heritage Awards.
Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said he had seen himself, on many occasions, “all the goodwill that exists – people from all walks of life who do what they do out of a commitment to help others and out of love”.
“Selfless local heroes who don’t seek recognition, or fame but deserve our gratitude and thanks,” he said.
“In all that this year has brought, I look forward to the joy of reviewing the stories of these unsung heroes and indeed of the day itself.”
The winners will be announced at the Australia Day Ceremony when a group of residents will also proudly become Australian Citizens.
