Community grants presentation

A MOBILE food van to feed the needy and a multi-lingual children’s story time video series are two of the many community programs and initiatives being funded through Canterbury Bankstown’s Community Grants and Events Sponsorship Program.
Mayor Khal Asfour said the council received 112 applications from community groups and organisations, requesting more than $814,000, with 91 receiving a grant of up to $15,000.
Among the successful applicants was the Bankstown Community Resource Group, which will use its $15,000 grant to produce a video series of local multi-lingual children telling stories, to promote the importance of reading in native languages to children from birth, and Maronites on Mission Australia who will use their $10,000 to establish a food van, serving complete meals and beverages to the less fortunate throughout the City.
