New interim bus interchange opens Sunday

Works are underway to build an interim bus interchange within Bankstown Central to enable the construction of a new car park, providing easy access to the new fresh food precinct and Coles supermarket, now being developed.

From this Sunday, May 15, public transport customers will be able to access the new bus interchange at Bankstown Central from The Mall and Jacob Street, providing better integration with Bankstown’s current and future modes of transport, including Sydney Metro.
Vicinity’s Regional Manager Shopping Centres, Craig Piper, said “We’re working closely with Transport for NSW and bus operators to ensure a smooth transition. To help passengers navigate to this new location, we have developed way-finding signage and we will have our courtesy crew to provide information and directions.”
“The relocation of the bus interchange paves the way for the development of a new 190 space car park with travelators to provide direct access to The Grand Market, Bankstown Central’s new fresh food precinct, currently under development.
“The Grand Market will include a new Coles supermarket in addition to a selection of artisan specialty food retailers offering a variety of ingredients from around the world, providing customers with more convenience and choice under one roof.
“This is the first step in Vicinity’s vision to transform the heart of Bankstown’s town centre into a vibrant mixed-use neighbourhood where the community can work, stay, dine and shop.”
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time as they become familiar with the new location and plan ahead using the Trip Planner at transportnsw.info, Opal Travel app, or third-party transport apps.
