All juniors cyclists finish in top 10

LIDCOMBE Auburn Cycling Club (LACC) junior coordinator Linda Allwork said everyone in the club was proud of how well four of their juniors, Keira Will, Sarah Allwork, Kai Goltman and Jaydan Stanton Keir performed at last month’s Junior Track Nationals.
Named Champion of Champions for Junior Women 15 (JW15), Keira brought home four national titles as well as two bronze medals.
Jaydan rode strongly to qualify for the Kieran final, while Sarah also qualified for several finals, and Kai showing plenty of courage to pick himself up after a crash in the Points Race to finish in equal fourth place.
Ms Allwork said over the four days of racing, events included time trial, scratch race, Individual Pursuit (IP), points race, sprints and Kierin, with the LACC juniors travelling, training and competing with the Cycling NSW junior team.
“All of our LACC juniors had top 10 finishes in their events,” Ms Allwork said.
“They worked really hard and definitely acquired valuable experiences in this National competition.
“For first time state competitors like Jaydan, Kai and Sarah, they’ve all certainly learned a lot.”
The LACC are also hosting a free Come and Try Cycling day for children aged four to 16 at the car-free Dunc Gray Criterium Track at Bass Hill on Saturday, April 27.
Ms Allwork said children are encouraged to bring a helmet, their own bicycles and water-bottles, however for those who do not have a bicycle, there will be mountain bikes available for hire, courtesy of Cycling NSW.
