Murder charge over Merrylands death

A MAN has been charged with the alleged murder of Merrylands woman Erin Mullavey, almost four months after her death.

Ms Mullavey (also known as Erin Gilbert), 42, was found by police on Sunday, April 9, about 11.30pm,
allegedly in a pool of blood and suffering fatal stab wounds, in her unit Newman Street, after they responded to a concern for welfare report.
Earlier today police charged a 32-year-old man with murder.
Police will allege in court, on the night of the murder, the man – who was known to Erin – attended her Merrylands apartment after a conflict had escalated and attacked her with a bladed instrument.
They also alleged the man fled the scene on foot, before getting on a black and red mountain bike.
Police said as he fled, it’s believed he discarded the clothes he was wearing, including a grey hooded jumper with a distinctive logo on the back.
