Investigators attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command’s Strike Force Puma commenced an investigation after vision of a large-scale car meet at Chullora on Friday, October 23, was published on social media.
The vision allegedly displayed numerous vehicles conducting dangerous burnouts among crowds.
Following inquiries, a 17-year-old male and three men – aged 20, 26 and 47 – have now been charged.
The teen, who held a provisional licence, was charged with prolong, sustain loss of traction and his licence was also suspended.
A 20-year-old Merrylands West man was charged with prolong, sustain loss of traction and his licence was suspended. His Toyota Lexus was confiscated for three months.
A 26-year-old Warwick Farm man was charged with prolong, sustain etc loss of traction and driving in a manner dangerous to the public. His licence was suspended, and police confiscated his Ford Falcon for three months.
A 47-year-old Roselands man who allegedly recorded and published the material online was also charged.
In a separate incident, about 11.20am last Tuesday, Strike Force Puma officers were conducting patrols of the M5 at Kingsgrove when they detected a Mercedes C250 allegedly travelling in excess of 130km/h in a 80km/h zone.
The driver, a 27-year-old Liverpool man, was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for drive in a manner dangerous to the public and exceed speed limit by more than 45km/h. His vehicle was confiscated for three months.
Strike Force Puma was formed 2018 to target drivers with a history of licence offences and a repeated history of drink and drug driving offences, and drivers with extreme and erratic behaviours.
Arrest five, seize cars
FIVE men have been charged and three vehicles impounded in two separate incidents.
