Bal and Jaya Balendra, along with daughter Karthika Viknarasah who is the centre’s Director, have seen many changes to the area in that time.
“A lot of different nationalities have made their home here and like the community, our centre and staff are truly multicultural,” Bal explained.
“It is definitely a harmonious community and like a lot of the young families moving here believe, it’s a great place for children to grow up.”
To reflect the mix of cultures and for effective communication with parents and children, staff speak English, Mandarin, Arabic, Korean, Hindi, Tami and Urdu (Pakistani).
The only Performing Arts Preschool and Long Day Care Service in the country, Choice offers a systematic program for the development of public speaking, leadership and performance which are considered vital 21st century skills.
It is also one of the few preschools that has its own early childhood program that links with the NSW primary school syllabus, winning numerous awards over the years.
Director Karthika has a Masters degree in early childhood and a passion for ensuring that every child has the opportunity to shine.
