State MP for Auburn, Lynda Voltz, slammed the move and said it’s disappointing and distressing for everyone who relied on its services.
“It’s more than a mailing facility, it’s a place where residents can bank, pay bills and, of course, send and receive mail,” she said.
“These services are indispensable, especially in a community with so many people from diverse backgrounds.
“It’s stripping a community of its ability to function effectively to pay bills to remain connected local and globally.”
Federal Education Minister and Blaxland MP Jason Clare has urged Australia Post CEO Mr Paul Graham to “reconsider this decision and keep these services in the Auburn CBD”.
“Auburn needs a post office, whether it’s in this location or somewhere else,” he said.
