The Dawoodi Bohra community, as part of the Shia sect of Muslims worldwide, are in a period of mourning during these days of ‘Moharram or Ashara Mubaraka’ which commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad in Karbala 1,400 years ago.
Community leader Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, in the remembrance of Imam Hussain, is feeding around a million members throughout the world and the local chapter wanted to take the opportunity to do the same for people in need in Cumberland.
MP’s helping to feed needy
ONE hundred families can put more food on the table after State MP for Auburn, Lynda Voltz, helped Community Care Australia and the Sydney Dawoodi Bohra Community deliver fresh food boxes last week.
