An initiative that sees the mosques involved simultaneously open their doors to members of their local communities – regardless of their religious beliefs, NMOD is now in its 10th year and 2023 promises to be the best in the initiative’s decade long history.
“NMOD provides community members who may belong to other faiths or who do not have a religion, the chance to visit a mosque and participate in various activities,” MA religious affairs co-ordinator Salim Allouche said.
“Most mosques will have guided tours, information sessions, displays of Islamic art and calligraphy and food from Islamic cultures.”
Rahma Association President Shady Elriche said they would be be handing out literature and pamphlets about Islam as well as providing free copies of the Qur’an.
“These open days are a great method of building bridges between various communities and help non-Muslims develop a much better understanding of Islam,” he said.
Auburn Gallipoli Mosque will also be open for the day but has no extra activities planned.
“Every day is an open day at Auburn Mosque,” a spokesperson said.
Mosques will open to public
MOSQUES from across Australia, including Guildford’s Rahma Mosque and Regents Park Musala, will participate in the National Mosque Open Day (NMOD) this coming Saturday, October 28.
