Waratah’s Women’s Officer Caroline Staples, who has been playing in the Lidcombe Waratah Women’s team for more than 20 years, says the team has been training since early February and is really keen to play.
“But we need more players,” Ms Staples said, “Some of our team from last season have moved away and we are keen to recruit new players for the coming season.”
Club secretary Tilila Taofi has played in the All Age Women’s team for eight years and says they need players of all ages and skill levels.
“We have become a family, which is why I keep playing every season, the women are just an amazing, fun bunch and we have plenty of laughs on and off the field,” she said.
“It is also great exercise and is something for me to do away from my busy family and working life.”
They have already started training at Coleman Park, George Avenue, Lidcombe, on Thursdays at 6.30pm.
