IN a closely fought encounter, Bankstown Sports Women’s Cricket Club (BSWCC) First Grade found themselves in a tight battle with Penrith.
Opening batters Tahlia Dunne and Jade Errington got the team off to a strong start before Emma Newman and Emily Lawler had the task of helping the team reach a defendable 121 off the allotted 20 overs.
Despite efforts to restrict the flow of runs, Penrith clinched victory in the second last over.
Congratulations to Madison Rutherford making her First Grade debut, bowling tight and finishing with figures of 0-10 off 2.
Second Grade had a great win over Penrith at Howell Oval. After losing the toss and being asked to bowl, BSWCC couldn’t have got off to a better start with Ava Blackburn (1/8) picking up a wicket in her first over. Ava bowled in great partnership with Chrissa Stathis 1/12 and ultimately kept Penrith to 4/111 off their 20 overs.
Emilia Danne and Maeve Martin helped BSWCC chase down 112 in the 19th over.
Third Grade had a closely fought game against Parramatta, but the bowling attack proved too good and Bankstown fell three runs short of a tie.
Special mentions to Claire Jones, Eden Crain and Brianna Fraser.
BSWCC U18 Brewers had an exceptional win over Penrith, with the bowling order able to choke Penrith’s run rate who finished on 7-94 off the 20 overs.
