Miracle Babies needing more support for little things

WHEN Menai’s Chloe Wallin (pictured with husband Carl and daughter Darcy) was admitted to hospital two months’ before her due date over fears her baby was arriving, it was a very scary time for the first-time mum but the support of the Miracle Babies Foundation made all the difference.

“My husband and I were taken down to the nursery to familiarise ourselves plus we were given a great support pack containing information and resources along with premmie nappies and tiny hand-knitted clothing,” Chloe said.
“Our daughter Darcy was born seven weeks’ premature but thanks to the hospital and Miracle Babies, we knew what to expect and the foundation even provided cooler bags so I could transport my milk back to hospital until she was able to come home.”
Miracle Babies also operates a 24-hour hotline to support new parents with concerns, provides support after the birth and free playgroups for parents with babies and toddlers that have been born sick or premature.
With no regular government funding for its programs, Miracle Babies is calling on the community for donations this tax time to allow them to help more families.
It costs $143 to provide support to just one family through their hospital journey, and $715 to continue this support during the first year after leaving the hospital.
With more than 132 newborns requiring specialised care each day, support to maintain the program is urgently needed.
