PRIME Minister Anthony Albanese was a special guest at Lakemba Mosque late last week where he addressed the 2,000-strong congregation about Saturday’s Voice to Parliament referendum. Joined by Watson MP Tony Burke and Canterbury MP Sophie Cotsis and with his speech endorsed by local imams, the Prime Minister’s visit coincided with an absentee Funeral Prayer for the late Sheikh Taj El-Din Halili, former Imam of Lakemba Mosque for a record 31 years and a former Mufti of Australia, who passed away suddenly in Egypt last Thursday.
