He was one of the two division one winning entries which scored the division one prize of $1 million.
Sharing his shock with an official from The Lott, the man said he was still reeling from finding his ticket in his bin.
“Oh my god,” he laughed.
“That’s fantastic.
“You wouldn’t believe it, I accidentally threw my ticket out, and I just had to go looking through the bins for the ticket. But we found it.
“I cannot believe it. I can’t believe we threw out that ticket.
“It’s incredible. To be honest, I am in shock.
“This is going to change our lives in such a big way!”
“We will try to find a new house, and maybe even buy a new car, mine is so old.”
His winning ticket was purchased at T&L Newsagency, Revesby.
