Memory of cherished son lives on

THE Dehestani family, in memory of their cherished son Behrang who passed away at 33, has initiated an inspiring project to enhance the Canterbury Earlwood Community Centre (CECAL) garden.

CECAL CEO Gareth Wyatt said they were happy to bring life to an area that was not being used to provide staff, volunteers and visitors with a place they could utilise and enjoy.
“Bijan (Behrang’s father) was introduced via his neighbour who was a Board member of CECAL, while grieving the loss of his son a year earlier,” he said.
“The area is now paved and flattened, with more plants, vegetation and bench chairs so people can sit outdoors and enjoy.
“It will certainly give our playtime parents an outdoor space to enjoy a tea or coffee while watching their kids play.”
He said they were very thankful to the Dehestani family and Canterbury Bankstown Council for supporting the upgrade.
