“It was awesome seeing the smiles on so many faces, “ Mayor El-Hayek said.
“These new citizens have left their homelands to come to this country for a better life and their contributions will only add to our cities diversity and culture.
“What struck me about the latest ceremony was the number of children taking part, and just knowing that they will be afforded every chance to succeed in this country.
Mayor welcomes new residents
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said he was proud to welcome nearly 140 new residents, from more than 30 different countries, during the Citizenship Ceremony held at the Bryan Brown Theatre last Wednesday.
