Mayor swings in to open playground

A NEWLY installed playground at Merrylands Memorial Park was put to the test by 130 students from local schools at its official launch last week.

The nautical themed play equipment ties in with the nearby 9,000kg anchor memorial honouring Australian mariners, and Cumberland Mayor Greg Cummings said the $90,000 upgrade promoted “all the fun of spinning, swinging and climbing for kids”.

“Outdoor exercise is an important part of maintaining physical and mental health and general wellbeing,” he said.
“Investing in outdoor venues like this playground is an investment in the health and wellbeing of the Cumberland community and our future generations.”
