Mariam run breaks 40-year-old record

BANKSTOWN Girls High School have many champions in their midst including athletics star Mariam (Mary) Hussain who has broken two 40-year-old records at the Edmondson Girls Zone Athletics Carnival.
She broke the 100m record set at 12.88 seconds in 1985, coming in at 12.80 seconds, and the 200m record set in 1979 at 26.90 seconds, coming in at 26.70 seconds.
Relieving PDHPE Head Teacher Kerri Zannettides said Mariam was destined to go far in sport.
“We are really proud of her and thrilled with her success which she deserves after training so hard; we look forward to what she can further achieve in the future,” she said.
