Mardi Gras International Queen set to be crowned

CELEBRATING its 13th year, Flagcom (the Filipino Lesbian and Gay Community) is searching for who will be crowned Miss Mardi Gras International Queen 2023 at its Mardi Gras party next month at the Orion Centre in Campsie.

Amid a flurry of feathers, dazzling costumes and first class entertainment, this is one of the fundraising events that Flagcom organises every year to fund community activities to promote social cohesion, community harmony, safe sex in collaboration with ACON (the AIDS Council of NSW) and Philippine arts and culture.
With more than 500 expected to attend the multicultural and multisexual event, and 50,000 more watching online from around the world, the show includes a four-segment pageant to crown this year’s Queen and her court; a fashion parade; drag show; and a buffet dinner and dancing as well as a range of entertainers.
With this year’s pageant theme, ‘Big, Bold and Beautiful’, organiser Alberto Prias says the audience should prepare to be bedazzled by the extraordinary beauties and their sensational costumes.
“The winner will score an overseas trip after appearing on her own float, along with the charity queen and two runners up, in the Mardi Gras parade which returns on February 25 to Oxford Street,” he said.
“It’s going to be an amazing night and we invite all the community to come along and show their support.”
To be part of this glitzy event on February 18, costing $120 for VIP seats with a two-course dinner, $99 for general seats with dinner or $50 for a general seat but no food, call Alberto on 0402 533 587.
