The investigation, known as Operation Joffre, began in September 2020 after Australian Border Force officers allegedly identified consignments containing illicit drugs hidden inside electric motors – two consignments from Italy containing five kilograms of cocaine each and a further three consignments from the US containing 20 kilograms of methamphetamine.
The consignments were allegedly addressed to a 35-year-old Quakers Hill man and a business address in Silverwater. Last September officers executed a search warrant at the Silverwater business and spoke to the Quakers Hill man before seizing a number of items including an electric motor.
Police said forensic analysis of the items allegedly linked the man to the drug importations.
He faces five charges of importing a border controlled drug and five counts of attempting to possess.
Manager had drug delivered
A MAN who allegedly used his position as a store manager to have 20 kilograms of methamphetamine and 10 kilograms of cocaine delivered to his workplace in Silverwater, was charged last Wednesday.
