In 2009, Cumberland Police began an investigation into alleged historical sexual violence offences in Merrylands between 1991 and 1994.
After an extensive investigation, a 52-year-old man was arrested in Yarrabilba in Queensland, before being extradited back to NSW where he was charged with aggravated sexual assault – victim under 16 and aggravated act of indecency – victim under 16.
Police will allege that the man sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl, who was known to him, between 1991 and 1994.
