A 22-year-old man from Granville, who was a passenger in the utility, died when a Toyota Hilux utility and a truck collided on Pennant Hills Road at West Pennant Hills.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man died at the scene.
The driver of the truck, a 39-year-old man, was taken for mandatory testing but was released.
The ute driver was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving occasioning death, and drive while licence suspended.
