In November 2018, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a 13-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 22-year-old man at Burwood last Thursday.
The man was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault – victim under the age of 16 years, and indecent assault of a person under 16 years.
Police will allege in court that the man, who was a family friend, gave the girl alcohol and drugs before sexually and indecently assaulting her at a home in Belfield on Friday, August 31, 2018 and Sunday, September 2, 2018.
