Man charged after distressed dog dies

A MAN was charged after his dog died when it was allegedly left in a car for several hours in Padstow last Monday.

A member of the public called police after seeing the dog in distress in a car parked in a driveway on Gibson Avenue about 10am.
When Bankstown Traffic and Highway Patrol officers arrived they found the car with its engine running and shortly after, the owner, a 49-year-old man, returned to the vehicle and spoke with officers.
The five-year-old Rottweiler cross was taken to a vet, where she was declared deceased.
The Bexley man was issued with a Court Attendance Notice for commit an act of aggravated cruelty upon an animal, leave vehicle leave engine on, and not remove ignition key (vehicle unattended).
