HUNDREDS turned out to help make Cumberland greener, cleaner and more liveable, planting thousands of trees on National Tree Planting Day.
Mayor Lisa Lake and Cr Helen Hughes (pictured) joined residents and community groups for Australia’s largest tree planting event, planting trees, shrubs and grasses at several locations.
“It was a beautiful way to spend a Sunday morning with hundreds of people who are so committed to improving our natural environment,” Mayor Lake said, while Cr Hughes said “it was refreshing to see” so many young people joining in.
