Magpies full of chirp for family fun day

ENJOYING another weekend full of football at Picken Oval, the Inner West Magpies also hosted their annual family day with plenty of fun, games, canteen goodness and jumping castles throughout the day.

The Men’s Premier Division Reserves kicked off the start of the day against St George Dragons; a close match but finishing up 14 points short of the win going down 72-58.
Josh Zoppo was named best on, followed by Christen Specha (also kicking three goals), Daniel Lawrence, Jarryd Polley, Arron Convery and Simon Stephens.


Next up, the Men’s Premier Division faced up against St George. The Maggies started the game off strongly kicking 5.8 in the first quarter but St George managed to bridge this gap in the second.
Heading into the last quarter the Magpies showed great composure and unity taking the lead and finishing up the game on top 86-60. Jock White once again was named best on, followed by Patrick Wilmot, Callan Dell, Daniel O’Connell, Matthew Magee and Chris Bateman.
The next game saw the Women’s Premier division line up against competition favourites Macquarie Uni and had a tough day with a final score 6-97.
Melissa Freckelton was best on followed by Kate Lawson, Jess Shanahan, Amelia Causley-Todd, Laura Marshall and Michaela Ekman.
Then facing off against South West Blues, the Under 19s Div Two Men’s side continued their strong performance, with a close final score of 43-36. Matt Tanuku was best on for the day, followed by Aaron Naulty, Ryan Sheers, Sean Raymond, Hugh McArthur and Ben Searle.
