Magpies burst into song as three grades soar to victory

SATURDAY saw another weekend full of footy for the Inner West Magpies at Picken Oval. The day started off with the Women’s Premier Division side coming up against UTS ACF.

The Magpies were able to finish up with a win over UTS, 27-17. Although low scoring, the Magpies scrapped hard to remain in front for the entire match.
Ella Head and Madeline Convery represented the Magpies on the day, coming up from the youth girls teams.
Seniors captain Melissa Freckelton said: “Having these girls come up and play is a great reflection of what we are building as a club. It’s exciting to see!”

Ben Zoppo and Callan Dell share a high-five in the celebration.

Next up saw the Men’s Reserves against UTS. The boy started off slow and struggled to get themselves back into the game, finishing up with a final score of 32-94. Ben Robertson was named best on for the day.
The Men’s Premier Division side also faced off against UTS and were hungry for another win, pulling away for a convincing win 106-65. Once again Jock White displayed an exceptional performance and was awarded best on.
The U19s Magpies side played at Mona Park against UNSW and showed a dominating result with a 143-19 win. Aydin Bremner was award best on.
Saturday also saw the start of the 2019 AFL Sydney Masters division; the Inner West Magpies masters held tight against the North Shore Bombers but slipped off in the last quarter to go down 89-46.
