Magpie women swoop to stunning victory

WET weather footy across Sydney on Saturday, saw the Inner West Magpies’ two men’s sides washed out, leaving three of the five Magpies squads to play.

Both the men’s Premier Division and Reserves travelled to Gore Hill Oval to face off against a strong North Shore Bombers.
However, the Bombers proved too strong on the day for the Prem boys, finishing up 147-71.
Ben Zoppo put five goals on the board for the Magpies, while Daniel O’Connell took out best on for the day followed by Nicholas O’Connell, Tyler Blake, Joshua Guinan, Callum McEvoy-Gray and Joshua Robinson.
The Men’s Reserves side also found a tough battle against the Bombers also going down 147-14.
Nathan Norris was named best on, followed by Patrick Robertson, Matthew Armstrong, Aaron Connelly, Taidhg Ryan and Clinton McGrath.
Back at the Magpies home ground, the Women’s Premier division side took the field against Newtown Breakaways.
The rain early in the week made for a sloppy Picken Oval but Inner West Magpies got the win at home with a final score 36-27.
Magpies goal scorers were Michelle Cielesh, Mickey Ekman, Laura Marshall, Madeline Convery and Amelia Causley-Todd.
Best on ground was Melissa Freckelton, then Belinda Harrison, Madeline Convery, Brooke Rudezky, Laura Marshall and Amelia Causley-Todd.
