M5 Linear Park upgrade worth $3m

A NEW fitness loop, with outdoor gym pods, will be a main feature in the revitalisation of M5 Linear Park.

Work has begun on the 3.3km park upgrade spanning Kingsgrove, Bexley and Beverly Hills and will feature a diverse range of exercise and recreation equipment, including 18 outdoor gym pods, a sporting facility upgrade, landscaping, picnic facilities and way-finding signage.
“Some parts of this park have not had an upgrade since it first opened 18 years ago so I know this investment of more than $3 million will be welcomed by the local community,” a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.
Transport for NSW thanked Bayside, Georges River and Canterbury-Bankstown councils for their assistance in helping to transform the previously under-used space.
The park will also host new permanent outdoor art installations, delivered by WestConnex as part of the New M5 Public Art Strategy.
The M5 Linear Park enhancements will be delivered in two stages.
Stage one includes work at Allambee Crescent, Tallawalla Reserve, Forrester Reserve, Lundy Avenue, Nairn, Bonalbo, Girraween, Kooreela and York streets in Kingsgrove.
Stage two work will start after the WestConnex New M5 project is complete and the construction site at Kingsgrove is handed back to Transport for NSW (expected mid 2020). It includes work at the park land adjacent to Rosebank Avenue, Armitree and Glamis streets and Garema Circuit.
