Lucky treats for shoppers

GIVING all shoppers a chance to enjoy the fun and excitement, Lidcombe Shopping Centre will be a sea of colour and sound as it welcomes the Chinese New Year with a host of activities from this Thursday.

Shoppers will be able to take selfies against a backdrop of stunning lanterns and a maple tree as they welcome in the Year of the Tiger – a year of risk-taking and adventure.
We’re finding enthusiasm again, both for ourselves and for others. Everyone is fired up, generosity is at an all-time high and social progress feels possible again as the Tiger is associated with strength, braveness and exorcising evils.
With something for everyone, Lidcombe Shopping Centre will host spectacular Lion dancing each day from Saturday, January 29, to Tuesday, February 1, as well as Chinese cooking demonstrations so shoppers can learn all the secrets of the Orient and experience its delicious cuisine.
There will also be a range of engaging children’s art and craft activities including creating lucky red ‘money’ envelopes for their families and lantern decorating.
A shopping centre spokesperson said their aim was to make the celebration as interactive as possible this year.
“We really want our customers to experience the Chinese Lunar New Year festival right here in the centre as well as enjoy all the good fortune that it brings,” she said.
