Lots of bark but too late

THERE were plenty of slick moves from the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs but the Warriors have run out the 24-12 winners at Accor Stadium on Friday night.
After scoring the first try, a penalty against the Warriors gave the Bulldogs their first opportunity and they came close through winger Jacob Kiraz.

The Warriors extended their lead in the 26th minute but an error gave the Bulldogs an early chance and Matt Burton rolled the ball into the in-goal to earn a repeat set before Harrison Edwards strolled through the middle of the Warriors’ ruck to grab his first NRL try.
Fullback Hayze Perham then provided a spark with a long run but a poor play by Corey Waddell handed the ball back to the Warriors.
Bulldogs bench player Jayden Okunbor showed plenty of power to score from 10 metres out to pull the margin back to 12 points but that’s as close as the blue and whites got as they slumped to their seventh loss of the season.
Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo said the three tries given up in the first half were not what they wanted to be about but it was where they were at the moment.
“I thought we played better in the second half but it was way too late,” he said.
“We can’t play like that in the first half and then wait for a spray at half-time and respond in the second half.”
The Bulldogs next take on the Titans on Sunday from 2pm at Accor Stadium.
Other results: The Knock On Effect Cup, Bulldogs tied with the Warriors, 14-14; and Jersey Flegg Cup, Bulldogs defeated by Storm, 34-20.
