Rydalmere FC had five grand final wins, Merrylands SFC had four wins, Granville Kewpies, Holroyd Rangers FC, Auburn District, Newington FC and Toongabbie Demons Soccer Club had three wins, Auburn FC, Wenty Waratah and Wenty Uniting FC had two, and Guildford County, Lidcombe Waratah FC, Guildford McCredie, Greystanes FC, Pendle Hill FC and Ermington United had one grand final win each.
Seven of the grand final winners have now been selected to play in the Champion of Champions tournament which sees GDSFA pit their best against a range of other soccer associations.
These comprise Granville Waratah U13s, Guildford McCredie U14s girls, Regents Park U12s, Holroyd Rangers Over 45s, Auburn District U14s, Greystanes U12 girls and Rydalmere FC womens.
GDSFA Football Operations Manager Rosanna Lentini says just as they got the competition underway and were looking forward to a full season after the disruption of Covid for two previous years, rain started to impact on their plans.
“Many training sessions and games had to be re-scheduled but all the clubs and volunteers banded together to deliver a full season,” she said.
“GDSFA would like to thank all clubs, parents, players and volunteers for making it work so well.
“We hope all involved have a good break and we are excited and looking forward to everyone’s return in 2023.”
With the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup being played in Australia in July and August, GDSFA is pushing to recruit more females with a six-week, introduction to football program for girls aged 12 to 17, held on Tuesdays, starting October 11, 5-6pm.
