Local groups win share of club bounty

THANKS to a Dooleys’ ClubGrant of $1,020, 1st Granville Scouts Cub Leader Bruce Roberts will be able to offer more free places to local youth keen to benefit from the scouting experience.

With 40 million scouting members worldwide and 11 out of 12 men who walked on the moon being Eagle Scouts, the US equivalent of Australia’s Queen Scouts, Bruce said he wanted as many youth as possible involved as it sets you up for life.
“Even Governor-General David Hurley is a former scout and it’s the ideal activity to expand a young person’s world, their personal development and confidence,” he said.
“We are very grateful to Dooleys and will use these funds very wisely to benefit our young community that resides in one of Australia’s lowest socio-economic areas.”
After receiving 30 applications from organisations that are making incredible strides in the local community, Dooleys Board of Directors approved 20 applications, amounting to $186,298; the highest quarterly funding result since the pandemic began.
Other recipients include Auburn District Club which were awarded $30,000, Lidcombe Soccer Waratah Club received $4,500, St Joseph the Worker Catholic Primary School, $5,000 and the Rainbow Club for swimmers with disability which received $7,801.
