Local emergency units help out in flooded districts

TWO members of the Granville Combined Division of St John Ambulance (pictured) have been deployed to Kempsey in the State’s north to assist at an evacuation centre for local residents.
Along with dealing with the localised flooding incidents and a ‘mini-tornado’ which ripped through Chester Hill, Auburn SES Unit also provided assistance to flood management and recovery in the Hawkesbury area, delivering essential items to residents and helping with transportation of vital veterinary services for animals and livestock.

State MP for Auburn, Lynda Voltz, thanked members of both organisations after delivering a Community Recognition Statement to NSW Parliament on Wednesday.
“I’m proud of the local volunteers who have given their time to help the flood ravaged communities across the State,” she said.
“The Auburn SES and Granville Combined St John Ambulance have long been important emergency services in Auburn and it’s great to see them assisting with major emergencies.
“It is a showing of true community spirit to have volunteers converging on areas experiencing hardship. Our thoughts are all with the communities impacted by these devastating floods and we wish them all the best.”
