Lions roaring along to raise aid for sick

NEARLY 60 people attended the Auburn Lidcombe Lions Club’s changeover dinner last month.

Describing the event as “one of their best nights as a club”, president Mick Garvey said as a result of their members’ hard work, donations were made on the night to “four amazing causes” including $4,500 to Save our Sons, $1,500 to St Joseph’s Hospital Huntington’s disease unit, $2,000 to Freedom Across Australia and Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation.

“This was the clubs 62nd year of holding the annual dinner at St Joseph’s Hospital in the Jack Lang room,” he said.
“One of the major highlights on the night was the induction of our newest member Atterat Nawab.
“This was a milestone achievement for our club and future as it’s our first new member in four years and it was great to induct her in front of family and friends.”
Mr Garvey also thanked local businesses such as Bunnings Lidcombe and Coca-Cola Amatil for their support in fundraising, particularly for the annual Ralph Heness Golf Tournament, as well as ongoing support from Cumberland Council.
“Lions have a place in the Auburn Lidcombe community for years to come,” he said.
