Lidcombe Waratahs kicking off first summer season of soccer

WITH young and old keen to keep having a ball, Lidcombe Waratah Football Club kicked off its first ever Summer Soccer season last Wednesday night at Coleman Park.

With junior games being played late in the afternoon and senior games played under floodlights, the Summer Soccer players avoid the heat of the day but still get to have a good kick around.
The format of Lidcombe’s Summer Soccer is five-a-side, six-a-side or seven-a side, depending on age; the games are shorter in duration and are played on small fields.
Club President Michael Cush said the first round of Summer Soccer was a great success, with over 90 players at the park enjoying the fun.
“After a regular winter season that was disrupted by Covid-19, this new Summer Soccer competition has given our players an extra opportunity to play more football,” Club Secretary Tilli Taofi said.
Summer soccer is on offer every Wednesday until December 16.
Lidcombe Waratah is also hosting come and try sessions open to kids of all ages, on Wednesday, November 25, December 2 and 9 from 5pm at Coleman Park.
