AFTER several tough months, businesses are raring to get back on their feet and a new campaign will encourage everyone to help them on their way.
Mayor Khal Asfour is urging the community to get behind the ‘Back to business’ campaign and support the thousands of local businesses.
The campaign will remind residents what they have missed out on over the last few months and spread awareness that they can confidently and safely shop and move around, with local businesses such as Extreme Indoor Go Karting at Villawood and Joe’s Barber at Padstow, championing the cause.
The Mayor dropped into Joe’s on the first day it reopened and said “the place was buzzing, with Joe holding court and spinning a few stories”.
He said it was great to see queues outside shops, clubs, hairdressers and cafes, “welcome back” signs plastered in windows and many friendly, welcoming faces, but more needed to be done to attract shoppers through the doors.
Getting businesses back and prospering, is “the key to getting our local economy back on its feet”.
“While many residents were rejoicing, the loudest cheers came from the thousands of businesses who threw open their doors for the first time in 106 days,” he said.
“It was surreal to see and hear the reaction.
“The aim of this campaign if to position Canterbury Bankstown as being a safe and welcoming place for people to visit. So, let’s get ‘Back to business’ together and support our amazing local businesses.”
Let’s get back to business: Mayor
