Boasting an impressive lineup of 34 films, the festival kicks off this Thursday, August 17, and runs through to Saturday, September 2, at Bryan Brown Theatre in Bankstown.
Originating with the support of the council and Create NSW, and under the esteemed patronage of film legend Bryan Brown AM, the Lebanese Film Festival has evolved into a cherished annual tradition.
“These films have not only entertained and touched the hearts of grandparents, parents, siblings and friends, but have also extended a warm invitation to all Australians to delve into the mesmerising world of Lebanese cinema,” Brown said.
While comedy and drama emerge as the prominent genres, the year’s film lineup also provides an intriguing glimpse into Lebanon’s current affairs and ongoing societal issues.
The festival’s grand opening on Thursday, will feature red carpet celebrities including Brown, key film and media industry personnel and award-winning journalist and author Antoinette Lattouf who is this year’s inaugural ambassador.
“I have supported the LFF for years because it combines my two great passions – diverse storytelling and ensuring Western Sydney is the headline act,” she said.
Priced at $90, the opening night ticket includes the screening of ‘Carona,’ a comedy by Shady Hanna, a Lebanese food station feast dished up by Taytas Food Co and boutique Lebanese beer and wine.
The program also features a special Free Day of shorts (registrations required) and documentaries on Saturday.
