Maybe you are interested in game development or would like to understand the fundamentals of interactive art which can be applied to music, media or fashion?
A ‘Make your (He)art Beat’ course will be held this Saturday, July 6, at Bankstown Arts Centre, 11am-12pm, to introduce you to the world of creative coding.
Facilitator Jane Fan is a software engineer and digital artist whose work spans a variety of mediums including illustration, 3D computer graphics, generative and interactive art.
She employs web and game technologies to create her works, assisted by webcams, 3D cameras and microphones.
Her artworks tend to have cyberpunk and algorithmic aesthetics, concerned with current and future implications of emerging technologies.
She said the course was ideal for anyone aged over 16, especially tertiary students, who would like to get started with coding in general.
“There’s a strong visual aspect so it’s great for beginners as you get immediate feedback on whether your code works or not,” she said.
“It’s fun to learn but I also teach the practical element which can lead to a variety of fields and jobs as well as the extensive free software available on the web.
“There is no specific textbook for this area so I’m hoping to pass on my knowledge.”
The session costs $11.90 and bring your laptop.
